The National Gallery of Australia presents fullscreen: explorations in new media, an innovative program of speakers, artists, and performers from the forefront of digital art, giving insight into current practice in new media art and its influence on popular culture.

The fullscreen series will appeal to the artgoing public and will draw anyone with an interest in new media, computer gaming, the Internet, cinema, music and animation.

fullscreen is a cutting-edge program new to the NGA: one which profiles some of the most inspiring new media artists working ahead of the curve in multimedia. These seven amazing events will appeal to anyone who has ever sat in front of a screen’ says Nicole Ryan, series coordinator.'

The series commences with an examination of multimedia in music videos and television advertisements including work produced for Kylie, Madonna, Bjork, Fatboy Slim, Levis Strauss and Smirnoff.

fullscreen also explores aspects of multimedia as diverse as online art, animation, computer gaming, sound art, and digital installations. Contemporary new media artists, Mari Velonaki and Stelarc, also present their current projects and collaborations.
