Forever pregnant and forever to be shared

Ron Mueck’s Pregnant woman arrives at the National Gallery of Australia.

The larger than life pregnant woman sculpture is one of the most fascinating and somewhat confronting of Mueck’s works to date. Australian born, Ron Mueck now lives in London and has attracted considerable attention world wide in recent years.

Pregnant woman was acquired by the National Gallery of Australia in February of 2002, and has been on tour until today.

The National Gallery of Australia acquired her while she was on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney; the work then travelled to The National Gallery in London, the Frans Hals Musuem, Haarlem, and the National Gallery Berlin. Pregnant woman has arrived home to the National Gallery of Australia.

Busy mother, Alex Sloan, 666 presenter will join us to welcome her home and said 'She is a reminder of the miracle of life, she is extremely life like, a true reflection of a pregnant woman. She looks tired and ready to give birth, and somewhat confronting, and so is being pregnant. Mueck’s work is an outstanding piece that celebrates life'.
