The tall windows, high walls and deep cornices in Studio interior suggest this is a drawing room in a comfortable house. The seated woman and two children do not seem to relate to each other; they sit and stand in this room like stilled figures on a stage, posing for their portrait. Yet sunlight streams through a French window, suggesting a brighter, more energised world beyond this intimate interior.
