An ancestor of Prince Albert Victor, St Elizabeth of Hungary was born in 1207. Daughter of King Andrew II she tended the poor and the sick despite her family’s objections. After her husband died in the Crusades, she lived a life of voluntary poverty, devoting herself to helping the destitute.
