Klaus Moje works with coloured glass in flat, geometric compositions, using techniques developed from the traditions of fused mosaic glass. These glass works engage the viewer through their ingenuity and exploitation of glass’s particular qualities of translucence and refraction, where the edge of one colour bleeds into the next. The sense of looking at the world though a prism or kaleidoscope is evoked in Moje’s work, and this is shown in his recent series of flat panels. Each suggests a kaleidoscopic window where the view is cut and reorganised. Shin shu blue takes the imagery of the sky and clouds, and subjects it to this process of deconstruction and reorganisation. It does not suggest a painterly view of the world, rather it is an observation of a particular moment of light, glimpsed as if through a windowpane or in a chance reflection from other glass.
