In Still life with Louise, Williams painted a delicate portrait of his second daughter in his studio. Louise is depicted amongst an array of still-life objects: luminous oranges, a vibrant pink and green coffee pot made by John Perceval, a dried lizard brought back from a painting trip, as well as a pottery object made by the people of the Chambri Lakes area in Papua New Guinea.
Williams’s three daughters, Isobel, Louise and Kate, all remember their father’s dedication to his art as well as his enjoyment of time spent with his family. They remember that even when they went on holidays he always seemed to be working at his art and as a way of getting his attention they would often take him their ‘finds’ to paint.
