Collection: Art Gallery of South Australia Adelaide A conservative painter, McInnes attained considerable recognition from the Establishment of the day for his landscape paintings and portraits. He combined realisticdepiction with an emphasis on tonalism. In the year the work was undertaken it won for McInnes the Archibald Prize for portraiture. The subject of his painting, Miss Gladys Neville Collins, is shown to be stylish, elegant and redtrained.
