Artist: Trevor LYONS Birth/Death: 1945–1990 Title: Journeys in my head; 1st state Credit Line: Australian War Memorial, Canberra Trevor Lyons served in the Australian Army in the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. He was severely injured by a landmine and underwent major facial reconstructive surgery. In 1986, at the age of 41, Lyons began printmaking studies at the Queensland College of the Arts. Journeys in My Head originated as a studio-based assignment investigating the technical possibilities in the etching process. It developed into a confronting exploration of the effects of his war service; the further he explored his art the closer he came to dealing with his own psychological and intellectual concerns.
