What is your world?
Sculpture project | Radford Early Learning Centre
This project was an opportunity for the children of Radford College, ACT, to think about the big idea What is My World? Using their answers and thoughts, the children went on a journey to design and make a group art work that could incorporate our diverse responses to this question.
The children were given the opportunity to work with a variety of materials including wire and plaster, and to take the time to discover their creative properties.
After a trip to the Canberra Museum and Art Gallery the children remembered how sculptures are different to something two–dimensional like a drawing or a print. So this project was also a chance to see how preliminary drawings could be taken through into a finished three–dimensional artwork.
This project was designed to honour the individual ideas of the children, but also give them opportunities to share their ideas and collaborate together on a finished piece.
