Sebastian Di Mauro was born in Innisfail, Queensland, in 1955. He completed a Bachelor of Arts, Queensland College of the Arts, in 1987, and a Master of Arts (Visual Arts), Monash University, in 1996. Since 1987 he has had twenty-eight solo exhibitions, including floccus at Brisbane City Gallery, 2000; and Respirare at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane,1999. His works have been shown in numerous group exhibitions in Australia and overseas. In 1998 his work was included in Enjoin, at the GSIS Museum, Manila. Di Mauro was awarded the Aberdere Art Prize in 1991, the Logan Art Award for painting in 1990, and was the Queensland Symphony Orchestra's 'Artist of the Year' in 1989. He was awarded the Parks Victoria Residency in 2000. Sebastian Di Mauro is currently a lecturer in design at the Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, and lives in Brisbane.
