Painting Forever: Tony Tuckson
Checklist

Tony Tuckson did not title the majority of his works. Many titles have been ascribed over time, however. Titles that can be proved to have come from Tuckson’s own hand have been used unencumbered. Titles in brackets are descriptive or attributed by other than the artist.

Similarly Tuckson rarely signed or dated his work. A great deal of valuable scholarship has been undertaken in order to establish a reasonable chronology, principally by Margaret Tuckson, Daniel Thomas, Richard McMillan, Frank Watters and Geoffrey Legge. This has resulted in ranges of dates being used, with exact dates derived from physical evidence or occasionally the memories of contemporary artists and friends. For the sake of editorial clarity a circa date style has been used here to denote a variable date range of up to two years either side of that stated.

Measurements in centimetres, height before width, are the measurements of the support not the frame.

The numbers cited are TP (Tuckson painting), TD (Tuckson drawing) or TS (Tuckson sketchbook), from Margaret Tuckson and Richard McMillan’s comprehensive cataloguing system, and institutional accession numbers. The TP, TD and TS numbers should be regarded as the primary identifiers of Tuckson’s work.
