Scheduled tours +
The Gallery offers a range of tours, talks and lectures covering many topics relating to the Gallery's collections and exhibitions including art and design history, architecture, literature and history.
The special tours and lectures related to exhibitions are aimed at a various audiences – check the listing below or go to What's On for more information.
The Gallery also conducts free scheduled guided tours that do not require bookings both of the permanent collection and major exhibitions (times vary for major exhibitions and entry ticket may be required).
The following free scheduled guided tours of the permanent collection are available every day except Christmas Day.

Booked group tours
Free guided tours may be booked any day except Christmas Day.
K-12 School and tertiary groups
Schools and tertiary institutions can book groups into the Gallery from 10.00 am (AEST) weekdays. A minimum of one supervising adult to 15–20 students is required for school group tours, with the ratio of one adult to six children in early childhood tours. Entry is free to the collection and to special exhibitions for booked groups and students aged 16 and under.
We welcome self-guided tours however please book your visit and note that teachers must remain with groups at all times. Larger groups of students must split into groups of no more than 15 students accompanied by one adult.
Special access tours
Special access tours are provided for groups with special needs and abilities. The Gallery provides a range of services, facilities and programs to enable visitors with special needs to access the national collection. Email email@example.com or phone +61 2 6240 6432.
Art and Dementia program tours
The Art and Dementia Program is a discussion based tour of works of art provides intellectual stimulation and social inclusion to those living with dementia. Free.

30-minute tours of major works in the collection designed for Tourist coach day tours
Special interest tours
Special interest tours are provided for community groups, clubs and societies, conferences and VIPs.
Tours in languages other than English and guided tours may be arranged.
Gallery Members tours
The program of events for members published in the calendar includes guided tours.
Private guided tours may be included in private bookings for a fee. Note: All hire of Gallery spaces is subject to availability, as negotiated with the Events Coordinator on +61 2 6240 6711
Groups can book any of the tours listed here. Booked tours require a minimum four weeks notice.
