Peel, Peel, Swan River Peel! Very fine Peel! 1829revolves around the Secretary of State, the Right Honourable Robert Peel, and his cousin Thomas. Hearing of the rich potential of land at Swan River, Thomas led a syndicate of financiers who proposed to underwrite the development of the settlement if the Government granted them prime land. However Peel’s scheme failed as he reached the colony after the Government’s deadline, and could only secure inferior land.
