After seven years honing his skills as a photojournalist in London, David Moore returned to Sydney in 1958 determined to build a career providing pictures for a European and American magazine market from a base in Australia. The 1962 Commonwealth Games took him to Perth. A characteristic love of abstract pattern combined with a desire ‘not to stop life’ with his camera can be seen in this dynamic depiction of a pole vaulter.
