Location
On the south side of Lake Burley Griffin, the Gallery is adjacent to the High Court and The National Portrait Gallery, walking distance from the National Library and Old Parliament House.

Parking
At peak times please be aware that it may be difficult locating a parking space.
The National Gallery has two car parks.
See map below
- Underground (off Parkes Place)
opens at 9:50 am and has a 3-hour limit.
- Aboveground (off Bowen Drive)
opens at 9:45 am and has no time limit. Access to the Gallery from this car park is via the Sculpture Garden.
- Accessible parking for people with limited mobility is available in both NGA car parks. Assisted lift access to the Gallery is available from the underground car park off Parkes Place.
Catch the bus
Catching the bus is recommended due to limited parking. The closest bus stop to the National Gallery is only a 5-minute walk away. For additional details call the ACT bus Customer Service Centre on 131710 or visit action.act.gov.au

Walking / Cycling

From the city to the Gallery will take approx. 30 minutes walking or 10 minutes cycling. A walk from the Bus Depot Markets car park (available Mon-Sat) will take 20 minutes (see map below).

Ferry
Combine a cruise on the Lake with a visit to the exhibition. There are a range of lake cruises available with drop off at the jetty nearest to the National Gallery.

Lake Burley Griffin Cruises run services 7 days a week departing Acton Ferry Terminal at 10.30, 1.30 or 2.30 (Increased frequency on weekends when the car parking is free}
Return trips depart Commonwealth Place at 11.15, 2.15 and 3.15 and 5.15 daily on weekends and public holidays 11.15,12.15, 2.15, 3.15, and 4.15 with last pick up at 5.15.
