In 1962 Perth played host to the seventh British Empire and Commonwealth Games, and the main point of entry to Australia was the new Fremantle Passenger Terminal. Howard Taylor’s fauna murals were a welcoming gesture to visitors to Australia. This was a time of booming self-confidence for Western Australia that saw visual artists being awarded major commissions.
