Forecast: art and fashion is presented by the National Gallery of Australia and the Faculty of Design Canberra Institute of Technology. An evening of experimental fashion, music, video and art inspired by the Gallerys’s current exhibition Constable: impressions of land, sea and sky and the theme of weather, the event will showcase work by student designers from three years of the Fashion Design degree at the Canberra Institute of Technology.

Designers will address issues relevant to fashion including identity, status, power, protection, movement and sexuality. Designs will be modelled by dancers from the Quantum Leap Youth Choreographic Ensemble, in a dynamic performance accompanied by sounds by DJ Milk Bar Nick and visuals by VJ Insan3 and artist Christopher Fulham. Performances will take place at 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

Forecast features a design competition sponsored by local fashion retailer Department of the Exterior encouraging student designers to create contemporary and innovative garments, drawing inspiration from Constable's works.

Forecast will also feature site-specific fashion installations made from non-traditional materials, inspired by Constable and the theme of weather.
