Canberra International Music Festival Blue poles

Celebrating the Jackson Pollock centenary at the National Gallery, the Canberra International Music Festival presents the premiere of Miroslav Bukovsky’s jazz composition Blue poles, performed by Aria award-winning jazz band Wanderlust.

Painting on the Dark Side
Dr Candice Bruce, art historian, writer and curator joins us for two special events in conjunction with von Guérard: Nature revealed

A reading and discussion with Candice Bruce about her recent novel The Longing, a perfect companion to the exhibition. Includes refreshments and a book signing. A discount of 20% on this book is offered in the NGA shop.

Candice discusses von Guérard's From the verandah of Purrumbete 1858, a source of inspiration for The Longing. She also touches on themes of romanticism and the gothic and on the landscapes of the Western District of Victoria.
