The lady in blue (Mr and Mrs J.S. MacDonald)
oil on canvas
x 112.0 (w)
Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney, presented by the family of Hugh Ramsay in 1943
Following perhaps the example of Whistler who gave his paintings colour titles, Ramsay called this painting The lady in blue. In painting it Ramsay was interested in the overall harmony and balance of the composition.
