In Déjeuner Fox depicted a scene of a leisurely luncheon set in his own Paris garden. Compared with Fox’s earlier images of outdoor eating, in Déjeuner he adopted a close and intimate view of this group, placing them in a more enclosed setting, and conveying the bond between a mother and child.
