Previous Page Parent Page Next Page In the Patterns of Connection series Leah King-Smith overlays nineteenth-century photographs of Aboriginal subjects with her own contemporary painted and photographed images of the Australian bush. Through this juxtaposition of past and present, King-Smith encourages her audience to re-think their conceptions of Aboriginality. The artists nineteenth-century source material for this photograph is an image by the colonial photographer Charles Walter, taken at Lake Tyers Aboriginal Mission, Victoria in 1869.
