PIGGOTT, Rosslynd, 1958

Rosslynd Piggott was born in Melbourne in 1958 and studied at the Institute of Education, University of Melbourne, from 1977 to 1980, graduating with a Bachelor of Education (Art and Craft). Since 1987 Piggott has had over twenty solo exhibitions in Australia and overseas including Suspended Breath, an extensive survey exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria, 1998; Swallowing Night, Kitamoto Cultural Centre, Saitama, Japan, 1997; Object and Material, Canberra School of Art Gallery, 2000; and exhibitions in 1999 and 2001 at Gallery 360 Degrees, Tokyo. In 2001 she showed at Walter Van Beirendonck's Window Gallery, Antwerp, Belgium. Her works have been selected for numerous group exhibitions at major venues including Trace, Liverpool Biennial, 2000; Uncommon World: Aspects of contemporary Australian art, National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, 2000; the Australian Sculpture Triennial, Melbourne, 1993; and the MoËt & Chandon touring exhibition in 1993 and 1991. She has been awarded several grants and overseas residencies including the Australia Council Studio in Italy in 1987-88, the University of Sydney Power Studio, Paris, in 1993, and Sai-no Kuni artist-in-residence, Saitama, Japan, in 1997. Rosslynd Piggott lives in Melbourne.
