Gift of Kenneth Tyler 2002
Photographer: Lindsay Green

Ed Baynard was born in Washington DC in 1940 and has worked with Kenneth Tyler at the various Tyler workshops since 1979. The National Gallery of Australia’s Kenneth Tyler Collection contains a selection of Baynard’s works, including the sophisticated yet simple series of three watercolour lithographs The lilies, The sunflower and The roses.

The series was lithographically printed and then individually hand coloured. The flower motif is typical of Baynard’s prints, which have a distinctive Japanese-inspired pictorial quality.
