Creation date: 1986

'After I returned from Japan, Griffith Artworks director Margriet Bonnin asked me to spend three months at workshops based on the campus of Griffith University in Queensland. I was given two grand studios to work in, an etching studio and a lithographic studio. As I was neither a lithographer nor an etcher, I made woodblocks using both rooms as interior subjects. The woodworking room had an inspiring tool-board in it that I used as a subject for this woodblock, partly inspired by John Brack. I also did a picture of my spare and messy Besser-block bedroom, ironically titled The artist’s residence.'
