Duration: 45 min including Q&A
Join David Greenhalgh, Associate Curator, International Art, to discuss the shifting legacy of French Post-Impressionist Paul Gauguin.
With a focus on Gauguin’s prints in Gauguin’s World: Tōna Iho, Tōna Ao, the Volpini suite and Noa Noa in particular, David examines how the artist’s use and reuse of images across mediums helps us to understand his practice. From Impressionist beginnings to his Polynesian visions, David explores the ways Gauguin’s time in Tahiti shaped his work.
Gauguin’s World: Tōna Iho, Tōna Ao is curated by Henri Loyrette, a former director of the Louvre Museum and the Musée d’Orsay. The exhibition is on display at the National Gallery from 29 Jun–7 Oct 2024.
