Saturday Screening
Black Angels: A Widening Vision
Join us for a free film screening of the documentary Black Angels: A Widening Vision (1994) featuring acclaimed Australian artist Gordon Bennett.
Directed by John Tristram, Black Angels: A Widening Vision follows the artist Gordon Bennett’s studio process and travels in Europe after receiving the prestigious Moët and Chandon Art Fellowship at the National Gallery in 1991.
Gordon Bennett’s Notes to Basquiat (The Death of Irony) (2002) is currently on display in Australian art: storylines. This major display, drawn from the National Gallery’s collection, weaves together multiple stories, different cultural traditions, and a range of art historical perspectives, an approach the late artist would describe as ‘a widening vision’.
Black Angels: A Widening Vision (1994) is held in the collection of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. Rated G.
