Local Ngambri and Ngunnawal Custodians with members of the Ramingining community and Commissioning Curator Djon Mundine OAM, Bandjalung peoples, sing in The Aboriginal Memorial in its new location at the heart of the National Gallery.

Conceived by Djon Mundine OAM with 43 artists from Ramingining and surrounding communities in Central Arnhem Land, The Aboriginal Memorial commemorates all First Nations people who, since 1788, have lost their lives defending their land.

The relocation of The Aboriginal Memorial has been planned in close consultation with the Ramingining community and Commissioning Curator Djon Mundine OAM.

The ceremonial singing in is open to the public as part of the National Gallery’s Reconciliation Week programs. The ceremony will commence outside the Main Entry and move to Gallery 9, Level 1.
