Kathleen O’Connor painted In my studio, Paris when she had been in France for almost 30 years. It shows a dissolving arrangement of flowers, a jubilant array of light and colour. She applied her paint freely, with a light toned palette, varying her brushstrokes from areas of bare, primed canvas to the layers of thick paint. O’Connor made a significant contribution to the acceptance of more modern ideas of art in Western Australia through the commentaries on art and fashion that she sent from France which were published in the local newspaper.
