Be the first to experience Patricia Piccinini’s new Skywhale family as Skywhale and Skywhalepapa take to the Canberra skies.
Bring your picnic blanket and thermos to watch Skywhale fly for the first time alongside her new companion Skywhalepapa, two monumental sculptures in the form of hot-air balloons.
A special live performance of We are the Skywhales by Jess Green with her band and the Luminescence Children’s Choir will create an immersive sonic experience.
This COVID Safe Event is strictly limited. Guests will be required to remain seated throughout the event. Please bring your own picnic blanket or seating for your comfort. Bookings are essential.

Skywhales: Every heart sings on Saturday 6 February has been postponed due to unsuitable weather conditions. The flight has been rescheduled to Sunday 7 February. All other event details remain the same.
All tickets for Saturday’s event are valid on Sunday. You do not need to register to attend on Sunday if you already have a ticket. No further tickets for Sunday will be released.
The flights on Sunday are also subject to weather conditions. All ticket holders will receive an email no later than 4am on Sunday morning with event information. Updates will also be published here and on the Gallery’s social media.Important event information – date change
