Tahe Drollet on Riding the Settler
Tahitian artist Tahe Drollet provides a talk focused on his sculpture Riding the Settler on display in the SaVĀge K’lub.
Tahe Drollet explores the intersection between Tahitian and Western cultures and how they can influence each other. Since his childhood, Western symbols, imported goods and movies have been influencing the way of living on the island, while cohabiting with Polynesian customs and traditions. Tahe’s work is deeply infused with symbols coming from both worlds, creating his own identity, sometimes questioning historical events or just offering surprising combinations.
Friday Art Talks are a free weekly program. Hear from artists, curators and experts on the works in our collection and exhibition program. This Art Talk is part of a series of activations in the SaVĀge K’lub.
