Art + Sound: David Hockney playlist

27 November 2017
In The Kenneth Tyler Collection

Australian duo The Aston Shuffle have created a playlist for the NGA’s Art+Sound pop-up program, inspired by our exhibition ‘David Hockney: Prints’.

"We have approached the playlist in two different parts. Part one includes cutting edge and celebrated artists from the 60’s and 70’s who, like Hockney, pushed boundaries in their respective fields and who have since become iconic to that time. A number of these artists were associated with the emergence of the pop art movement, like David Bowie and The Velvet Underground.

After spending time absorbing the extent of Hockney’s work, Part 2 of the playlist is our interpretation of the elements of his work and life, some inspired by the places he lived and worked, others, simply reflecting the emotions his works invoked for us.”

You can stream the playlist through Spotify and if you can’t make it to the exhibition, you can still immerse yourself in the world of Hockney’s prints with our brand new publication which covers the full range of his printmaking practice, from etchings, lithographs and screenprints to paper pulp works, photocopies, faxes and iPad drawings.
