In a government career spanning 36 years, Stephen Brady held senior diplomatic positions and served as a senior adviser to the Australian prime minister. He has served as Australia’s Ambassador to The Netherlands and Sweden where he was accredited to Denmark, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. He ended his diplomatic career as Ambassador to France, Morocco, Algeria and Monaco.
Before his posting to Paris Mr Brady was Official Secretary to two Governors-General. On two occasions he was a Senior Adviser to the Prime Minister.
Mr Brady has experience as a Board Member of The Australian Strategic Policy Institute, The Ethics Centre, the Europe Australia Business Council, Bangarra and a successful AI start up. He was on the Australian Federal Police Commissioner’s Advisory Panel and is currently Adjunct Professor of International Relations at Bond University.
He has been Chair of the National Gallery Foundation since August 2019.
