The Position
The Lead Artist Educator, Access works closely with the Access Programs Convenor to develop and deliver engaging and inclusive programs for audiences with access requirements, with a focus on the National Gallery’s Art and Dementia program and resources.
Programs are delivered across a number of platforms, including onsite at the National Gallery, online, and offsite in connection with touring exhibition programs. Programs support audiences to engage with works of art in the National Gallery’s collection and exhibitions programs and participate in creative artmaking experiences. Programs foster a sense of community and connection through facilitated conversation and collaborative opportunities.
The Lead Artist Educator, Access leads the development of the Making It resources – online workshops that support individuals with art and dementia, together with their care partners and health professionals, to facilitate art and dementia experiences with their own homes or care settings.
The Lead Artist Educator, Access draws on their experience as a creative practitioner to inform the development of programs and resources for access audiences. The National Gallery embeds artists within the development and delivery of learning experiences at the National Gallery, recognizing artists as creative and critical thinkers and people who bring unique perspectives to engagement with art, ideas and artmaking.
The Lead Artist Educator, Access works closely with casual Artist Educators and Learning Facilitators. The role also supports program evaluation and reporting.
This position reports to the Access Programs Convenor and is a non-ongoing part-time role with our Learning team.
