The Position
This position is responsible for providing specialist support to the Sharing the national collection project. Primarily, the role will work with Partner institutions around Australia to respond to copyright, permission and usage questions in association with long-term loans of artworks from the National Collection. This role will provide a range of advice and practical assistance within the National Gallery and to our regional and outer metropolitan partners to assist them with copyright and permissions.
Sharing the national collection is a landmark initiative for the National Gallery. It represents an elevation of one of the country’s leading art institution brands and a significant expansion of the reach of visual art across regional, remote and suburban Australia. Being part of this project team is a significant opportunity to engage with cultural institution partners across the country and be a part of a noteworthy chapter in the art history of the nation.
In addition, this role will provide a range of other support associated with Sharing the national collection, including drafting communications, responding to queries from partner institutions about requirements, agreements and other matters, sourcing and coordinating information from the Gallery, Department and stakeholders.
This role is highly valued, supporting partner cultural institutions to participate in Sharing the national collection. This will involve direct written and verbal contact with a range of institutions around Australia.
The Partner Support Officer will also assist the Project Manager and Project Director with any other relevant tasks that may include communication, strategic initiatives, project management and reporting requirements.
This position reports to the Project Manager, Sharing the collection. This position of Partner Support Officer, Permissions and Advice is a non-ongoing full-time role.
