David Greenhalgh on Surrealism
For parents and carers with babies in arms
Free, booking essential
Duration: 45 minutes
Meet at the Main Entry of the Gallery at 11am.
We will then head up to Gallery 14 (Level 1) together for an 11.15am start.
Join David Greenhalgh (Kenneth E Tyler Assistant Curator, International Prints & Drawing) for a talk focused on the Surrealist works of art in the national collection, such as René Magritte’s Les Amants [The lovers] 1928 and Hannah Höch’s Imaginäre Brücke [Imaginary bridge] 1926, and the ideas explored by this art movement.
This talk is especially designed for carers and their babies, and we will have tactile objects available to help keep babies engaged during the floor talk.
Breastfeeding is welcomed throughout the Gallery and a Parents Room is also available on Level 1. There is easy pram access (including lifts) and infants may be carried in a soft baby carrier on the front or back.
Babies in Arms is a monthly program for adults in a baby friendly environment. All parents and carers are welcome to attend.
