Entry to Art IRL: Lucky Charm! on level 1.
Art IRL is a festival-type event exclusive for people aged 15 to 25. Dreamed by the National Gallery Youth Council and co-created with Gallery staff, expect real life encounters with art and artists.
Join us in celebrating the newest addition to the Australian Garden – Sister Charm, by Kalaw Lagaw Ya/Meriam Mir artist, Janet Fieldhouse.
Embrace the opportunity to dress up in your favourite costume and embark on a journey filled with artistic wonders. Meet talented artists, unleash your creativity, connect with new people, relax in a quiet space or dance to your heart's content!
Please note:
- Access to Art IRL: Lucky Charm! is located on Level One. Take the ramp/stairs to the bridge over Parkes Place. Doors open at 6pm. Have your ticket ready to scan.
- There is no cloaking room in Level One. Do not bring bags larger than 30cms to Art IRL.
- Art IRL is an alcohol, drug and vape free event.

Make a Lucky Charm Doll
Janet Fieldhouse, Kalaw Lagaw Ya/Meriam Mir people takes inspiration from her matrilineal connections to the Torres Strait Islander communities to create intricate and small-scale sculptures which depict the elasticity in nature.
Participate in a creative workshop with the artist, engage multiple senses as you craft your very own sculpture – a lucky charm doll.
