Deborah Hart on Bronwyn Oliver’s Sculptural Practice
Women artists in focus
Duration: 45 minutes including Q&A
In celebration of International Women’s Day, join Deborah Hart (Head Curator, Australian Art) for an art talk focused on the innovative practice of Australian sculptor, Bronwyn Oliver.
Oliver was one of Australia’s leading women sculptors of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries. As an artist, Oliver was deeply interested in how forms, such as spheres, spirals and lines, can create sculptural poetry.
This talk will focus on a series of Oliver’s fiberglass and paper sculptures which were acquired for the national collection in 2023. Currently on display in the exhibition Deep inside my heart, these works explore notions of the body and otherness.
Deep inside my heart is on display from 25 Nov 2023 – 19 May 2024.
Art Talk is a free weekly program. Hear from artists, curators and experts on the works in our collection and exhibition program. In celebration of International Women’s Day, Art Talks in March focus on the work of women artists.
