Nature as inspiration
With Carol Cains, Rebecca Edwards and Shaune Lakin
Free, bookings essential
Duration: 45 min including Q&A
Join curators, Carol Cains, Rebecca Edwards and Shaune Lakin for a talk introducing a new collection display which focusses on the natural world as inspiration for artists.
Carol Cains (Senior Curator, Asian and Pacific Art) will introduce the display and speak about Yayoi Kusama’s Pumpkin (M) 2016. Rebecca Edwards (Curator, Australian Art) will focus on the biomorphic carved sculptures of Inge King and Danila Vassilief, and Shaune Lakin (Senior Curator, Photography) will introduce AES+F’s video installation Last Riot 2007. The talk considers how these artists respond to nature as a way to understand the cosmos and their personal relationship with their environment.
Nature is on display in Gallery 16 until 3 August 2025.
