Teacher Engagement with Red Room Poetry and Dylan Van Den Berg

In collaboration with Red Room Poetry join Dylan Van Den Berg, Palawa peoples, with National Gallery educators for 2 hour workshop. In this time you will hear Dylan read his 2024 ekphrastic poetry commission responding to Benjamin Duterrau’s painting, Mr Robinson's first interview with Timmy (1840) and participate in activities you can use in your classroom to encourage multiple way of thinking and approaching poetry.
Dylan Van Den Berg’s work explores Blak and Queer identities through the subversion of national stories to embolden First Nations perspectives. Currently, His 2022 play Whitefella Yella Tree has been nominated for the Victorian Premier’s Award for Drama and has won the NSW Premier’s Award for Playwrighting.
