FAQ about the Membership Program changes in May 2024
Why has the National Gallery made changes to its membership levels and benefits?
The National Gallery transformed its membership to offer fresh and dynamic opportunities for members from all parts of Australia to engage with art, artists and the national collection.
Our new membership program provides members with greater access to explore, experience and learn about art onsite in Kamberri/Canberra, digitally and across Australia. The tiered membership offering is designed to provide a range of levels and benefits so that you can get the most out of your National Gallery Membership.
I’m a current member, what will happen to my membership?
Your current membership and any associated benefits will remain valid until the end of your current membership period. Upon renewal, you will be able to choose which of our new levels suits you best.
Alternatively, you can take advantage of the great benefits in our new Silver or Gold memberships by upgrading from Wednesday, 1 May 2024 via your online member’s profile. Alternatively, please email membership@nga.gov.au and one of our friendly membership team will be happy to assist.
My membership is due to expire at the end of April, what should I do?
We recommend renewing your membership after 1 May, 2024, so that you can enjoy the benefits associated with the new levels.
If you renew your membership in April, your renewed membership will continue to be valid until it expires or you choose to upgrade to our new levels.
I’m going to upgrade to the Silver Membership level, will I still need to buy tickets to Gauguin’s World: Tōna Iho, Tōna Ao?
No. A new and exciting feature is that Silver and Gold members enjoy the benefit of unlimited* and free entry to all ticketed exhibitions. Bookings are essential and subject to session time availability. You can book your free ticket in advance through your online profile, over the phone or at the Gallery.
*Redeemable once per day throughout the exhibition period.
I am an inaugural member of the National Gallery, how will you acknowledge my length of membership?
