Faonetapu Takiari on Kava Ceremony
Faonetapu Takiari provides a talk in the SaVĀge K’lub Te Paepae Aora’i – Where the Gods Cannot be Fooled focused on the importance of Kava. In this talk, Faonetapu takes you on a journey of Kava from traditional Pasifika settings into our modern society.
Faonetapu Takiari is a Pasifika community leader based in Ngunnawal country with nearly a decade of experience working in the Canberra community on multiculturalism, youth services, and community advocacy. A valued member of Fair Canberra Inc., Faonetapu was an integral part of the National Kava Forum in 2021 which spearheaded community consultations with both local and federal government, on the topics of national Kava policy and regulation. Using his niche expertise, Faonetapu also currently operates a Kava Lounge service in Canberra which has allowed him to host Kava spaces via health workshops, corporate events, and sessions for the general public. He hopes that with his experience and service in the community, he can one day help establish better health outcomes for Pasifika people in Canberra and abroad.
The SaVĀge K’lub Te Paepae Aora’i – Where the Gods Cannot be Fooled is a multi-disciplinary vehicle to explore ideas of hospitality, culture and identity.
