Lucina Ward on Gauguin’s World: Tōna Iho, Tōna Ao
Lucina Ward, Senior Curator, International Art, takes a close look at the art and life of French Post-Impressionist, Paul Gauguin.
Lucina follows the trajectory of Gauguin’s work, with a focus on the period in Brittany, when he worked alongside other artists at Pont-Aven and Le Pouldu to develop the distinctive ‘cloisonnist’ style.
Gauguin’s World: Tōna Iho, Tōna Ao is curated by Henri Loyrette, a former director of the Louvre Museum and the Musée d’Orsay. The exhibition is on display at the National Gallery from 29 Jun – 7 Oct 2024.
