Know My Name Conference: Future Practices
Facilitator Julie Ewington with Atong Atem, Zoe Butt, Associate Professor Tara McDowell, Liz Nowell, Yhonnie Scarce and Ainslie Templeton
What do we want from the future? And how can we work together to enable diverse voices and practices in the arts? This is a strange and perilous time for speculation, with the COVID-19 pandemic upon us, a global economic crisis, looming ecological disaster, and ongoing human rights questions, both nationally and internationally. Yet right now it is imperative that we work together to secure just and liveable societies for the 21st century. To go forward. What urgent considerations, what dreams large and small, do arts workers bring to the table now and into the future? This panel brings together the collective wisdom of artists, curators and academics to explore these vital questions.
Presented as part of the Know My Name Conference.
The Know My Name Virtual Conference was presented in partnership with the Australia Council for the Arts, Australian National University School of Art & Design, University of Melbourne and UNSW Art & Design.
The Know My Name initiative is supported by Principal Patron Tim Fairfax AC.
The National Gallery of Australia gratefully acknowledges the Partners and Donors whose generosity has allowed us to bring Know My Name to life.
