National Sculpture Garden Film
The National Gallery of Australia is pleased to present, in partnership with Australian Dance Theatre, a poetic exploration into the beauty of the National Sculpture Garden through movement.
This film was commissioned to mark the first major milestone in the campaign to transform the National Sculpture Garden. Choreographed by Australian Dance Theatre Artistic Director Daniel Riley, Company Artists Zachary Lopez and Karra Nam move through the Garden, engaging with celebrated works of art including Clement Meadmore’s Virginia 1970, Fujiko Nakaya’s Foggy wake in a desert: an ecosphere 1982 and Bert Flugelman’s Cones 1982.
The film invites viewers to imagine a garden that is a living, breathing gallery. Through movement, a continuum is created between the ancient and the contemporary, finding intimate connections between Country, dancers and art.
