OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
The International Art Department is responsible for researching and delivering loan exhibitions, commissioning projects, as well as researching, building, interpreting, and publishing on the National Gallery’s collection and preparing collection displays.
You will be closely involved in the development, display, research, interpretation, and promotion of the International Painting and Sculpture and International Decorative Arts and Design collections to strengthen understanding and encourage new ways of connecting audiences with art and artists.
As part of the Curatorial department, your responsibilities will include the care, loan and presentation of the national collection of international art, along with contributing to the initiation, development and implementation of the exhibition, touring, publishing and commissioning program at the National Gallery.
The Curator undertakes research, develops exhibitions and writes publications that engage our audiences with, and enhance the reputation of, the National Gallery and its collection. The position contributes to preparing and presenting exhibitions and artist projects that forge new perspectives and elevate new research to position the National Gallery as a centre for art-historical scholarship and curatorial excellence. The Curator works collaboratively with peers and colleagues, both within the National Gallery and externally. Through national and international networks, they will foster relationships with artists, curators, galleries and scholars to build the strength of the collection and program, ensuring the greatest possible reach and impact.

Reporting to the Senior Curator of International Art, this position of Curator, International Art, is an ongoing, full-time role within the International Art team.
