Email marketing service provider update
The National Gallery uses Wordfly, an email marketing service provider, to communicate with our audiences via email. Wordfly is used by many arts, cultural and not-for-profit organisations in Australia and around the world.
We have recently been advised that Wordfly is experiencing a global network outage due to a ransomware incident and that some names and email addresses of those subscribed to our communications have been impacted. Wordfly has stated that there is no evidence that any of its data has been, or will be, misused or publicly disclosed.
We take privacy very seriously and safeguarding personal information remains our priority. Upon learning about this incident, we immediately took all reasonable steps to manage the risk to our data and have been monitoring the situation closely.
The only personal information we provide to Wordfly is the minimum amount of information necessary to be able to communicate effectively with our audiences, such as the names and email addresses of those who have subscribed.
Please be assured that information such as passwords, ticketing history, financial information, or credit card details have not been impacted in any way as this information is not stored in, or shared with, Wordfly. Further, we will not reengage their services until it is safe and secure to do so.
Wordfly have been working with cyber security experts and believe the incident is now contained. They are also implementing additional protections to further secure the data they hold and to help prevent future incidents from occurring.
If you have subscribed to receive communications from us, you do not need to do anything.
