Online: Free
Join some of the Australian Capital Territory’s finest poets and spoken word artists including Barrina South, Judith Nangala Crispin, Elfie Shiosaki, Andrew Moss, Shane Strange and Yleia Mariano to celebrate Poetry Month 2023.
Hosted by Andrew Cox, the showcase will include a performance by singer songwriter Alinta Barlow. Writer, critic and ACT Writers Festival Director, Beejay Silcox will also read her favourite Australian poem.
In partnership with Red Room Poetry, the National Gallery has commissioned poets Barrina South and Andrew Moss to write ekphrastic poems in response to a work in the National Gallery collection. Barrina has selected Eugene von Guérard’s North-east view from the northern top of Mount Kosciusko and Andrew has chosen to respond to Fiona Foley’s HHH. Barrina and Andrew will debut these new works at the poetry showcase.
The ACT Poetry Month Showcase is presented in partnership with Red Room Poetry as part of Poetry Month 2023.
