Program
Join National Gallery First Nations educators to experience the work of Western Aranda artist Vincent Namatjira. The survey exhibition, Vincent Namatjira: Australia in colour, on display at the National Gallery from 2 Mar – 21 Jul 2024, charts the artist’s career, revealing the power of his painting and the potency of his words.
‘Indigenous leaders and legends are one with Country, becoming part of the desert landscape. The forgotten heroes, the red dirt, the rich and powerful, the orange rocks, the old stockmen, the white trees, the politicians, the blue sky, the singers and storytellers – this is Australia in colour.’
