At the Gallery
Sun 27 Mar 2022, 3.30pm
No performances scheduled

Join Ceremony artists Dr Matilda House and Paul Girrawah House, Ngambri-Ngunnawal people, for an in-conversation and viewing of the tree scarring practice.

This monumental occasion will celebrate the final marking of this stage of Mulanggari yur-wang (alive and strong) (2020) which the artists have undertaken within the National Gallery’s Sculpture Gardens.

The work draws on traditional tree scarring practiced by many First Nations peoples from the south-east of this continent. The trees will heal over time, leaving a lasting marker of the continued connection of First Nations people to Country.

This outside event will be rescheduled in wet weather.

Presented as part of the Ceremony Opening Weekend.
