Know My Name Conference: Alternate Histories
Facilitator Dr Catriona Moore with Associate Professor Brenda L Croft, Professor Anne Marsh, Dr Alex Martinis Roe, Elspeth Pitt and Salote Tawale
For more than 100 years, feminist artists, curators, academics and knowledge holders have examined art institutional structures and critiqued art historical narratives in this country. Feminist and queer histories, decolonising projects, First Nations and alternate voices continue to reframe the canon of art history to present new and diversified perspectives on the past, present and future. These discussions have become increasingly intergenerational and cross-cultural and have helped drive longstanding calls for change within our arts institutions. Where to now? The panel takes stock of these changes and focuses on current innovative curatorial and art history ventures with an eye to future action.
Presented as part of the Know My Name Conference.
The Know My Name Virtual Conference was presented in partnership with the Australia Council for the Arts, Australian National University School of Art & Design, University of Melbourne and UNSW Art & Design.
The Know My Name initiative is supported by Principal Patron Tim Fairfax AC.
The National Gallery of Australia gratefully acknowledges the Partners and Donors whose generosity has allowed us to bring Know My Name to life.
